Textile storytelling with Manjula Sen: our talk at the Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món, Barcelona
An evening on the creativity and innovation within the Indian craft sector, where “we are oral history” was first said.

On 8 November 2024, Sensclo took the stage at the Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món in Barcelona for a special evening on Textile Storytelling, to talk about the creativity and innovation within the Indian craft sector. It sat at the intersection of India's rich craft traditions and their hidden histories, creative exchanges between Indian and Barcelona designers, and Sensclo's journey.

Snippets from the evening are on Instagram: one, two and three.
From media to meaningful making: the founders' journey
At Sensclo, we believe in the power of stories, woven into textiles and etched in the lives of people. As former journalists, Manjula Sen and Mahesh Balasubramaniam have always been driven by uncovering the extraordinary in the everyday. While Manjula found her canvas in textiles, Mahesh discovered his in bookstores.
Together, they created Sensclo with a purpose: to celebrate craftsmanship, champion sustainability, and bring about meaningful change. By building a strong and visible brand, they aim to spotlight the talents of artisans and craft, in a world where tradition and innovation coexist harmoniously.

"We are oral history."
Manjula shared this during the session. In a world of fast production and homogenised trends, Sensclo chooses its own path: people-centric, anti-homogenisation and trend-agnostic.
